Will you have enough to cover expenses if you are hurt or injured and can’t work? Affordable coverage pays a benefit if your injury occured on or off the job.
Some of you may already have life insurance or retirement accounts, but may still see the benefit of disability insurance. This program is designed for postal employees and it is a group plan. A group plan means you cannot be turned down and everyone pays the same rates and you cannot be charged more for a health condition.
This program covers BOTH on and off the job injuries. The waiting period is only 14 days. For example, if you slip and fall on some ice and you require a knee surgery once you have been out of work for 14 days you are eligible for benefits from the plan. You can elect a monthly benefit up to $2,000/month and the plan will pay up to a year for each disability occurrence. All benefits are paid tax-free to you.
Again, this program can be paid for from your paycheck which insures you are always covered.
